A Canadian Tech Firm name as “Surf”. They launched browsing extension last year with same name. It gives rewards to people who use internet.
Surf wants to be “ the frequent flyer reward of internet browsing”
Its beta vision is not too much huge at this time. It sell user’s data direct to retail brands and give points to users. So users can purchase things and can also take discount from that points.
The companies included in sign up are “The body shop” , “crocs” and “Dyson”.
According to surf all data is share secretly. Your telephone number and email are not shared and you have no need to give your Name while going to sign up. However they ask your age, gender and address but still these are not compulsory, its up to you.
Surf does not give details that how much user can earn. But company said that user can earn collectively 1.2 million dollar and 960000 pounds.
Users can also use surf to limit data they share. They can block information about some websites they visit.
Surf’s co-founder and chief executive Swish Goswami says that from day one we have cleared to user that what we will share and what we will not shared and users can also control their data as well.
He said that if you tell truth to people that you are going to share his/her data to brand and you are doing this anonymously. They can’t come to you because they don’t know even your first and last name. By this people become more satisfied and do more sharing.
Surf is a company who’s purpose is to give more and more control to his users.
Some experts/commentators give it a name as “responsible technology “.
