During the initial discourse at Sunday night's CMT Music Grants, broadcast from Austin on CBS, there was a comedic bit in which Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown traded commemoration presents to commend their cohosting of the show for the third successive time. Brown gave Ballerini a Texas style cap, and she responded by offering him a pink cap to put on as a trade off. Essentially a couple of crowd individuals shared a kid about the trade: By donning pink, could Brown overstep Tennessee's as of late passed regulation that some accept could boycott most drag exhibitions in the state, on the off chance that they were back home?
That was a "simply joking" reaction to the senselessness of the hosts' talk. Yet, Ballerini truly went there later in the three-hour broadcast, when she picked four "RuPaul's Race" sovereigns to perform with her as she sang "Assuming You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down As well)." That tune, off her 2022 collection "Dependent on future developments," is Ballerini's song of devotion of female kinship — and, with the manner in which the CMT Grants routine worked out, she particularly appeared to be considering drag entertainers as a real part of those companions. The presentation was energetic and apparently non-political, and in an alternate year probably won't have raised a lot of shaved or unshaved eyebrows. In spring 2023, it was difficult to peruse it as something besides a proclamation of: In the event that cross dressers are cut down, most of us will be hauled down with them.
